06-18-2017 - Sunrise

Ive always been an early riser, so when my buddy Joe wanted to go to Angeles Crest for a sunrise photo session I was down.

Angeles Crest Highway is a great road that takes you from the city of Los Angeles to the adjacent mountains and wilderness. In the wintertime it can be covered with snow. At the start of the road are sweeping views of the Los Angeles basin all the way to the Pacific Ocean on a clear day. Its a windy highway that brings scores of motorcycle riders and sports cars taking the turns at high speed for fun.

We spent the pre sunrise minutes getting stuck on tiny dirt roads and hiking around a bit looking for where we thought the light would be best. After some exploring, we ended back at the first place we scoped. The light ended up being great!

After the light started to get too hot, we spent a few minutes shooting some of the bikers cruising thru. I love motion in my work so I always play around with slow shutter panning shots. Got a couple of fun ones including one that I was entirely too close to the road for!
